“Dave's Hoagies: From Philly To NYC With Love”

FidDi folks are used to tumbleweeds rather than stellar lunch options. But no longer! Direct to Lower Manhattan from the streets of Philadelphia comes Dave’s Hoagies, a sandwich shop that will show you the famed sandwich’s superiority over mere mortal heroes.

As a finance dude at Morgan Stanley and Deutsche Bank, South Jersey-ian Dave Bagan was constantly disappointed when Noontime came around. How could he not be? With ghosts of hoagies past from his hometown imprinted in his brain, no chain sub could compete. Dave recalled the ingredients: Fresh, crusty Italian rolls stacked with salty cured meats, provolone cheese, lettuce, onions, a dusting of fresh parm, chopped hot cherry and roasted peppers. Inspired, he developed his own sauce, partnered with Parisi Bakery for brick oven baked bread and started up his own shop to bring the underrepresented favorite to Wall Street.

For the most authentic experience, try the Classic Italian ($11): Genoa salami, hot coppa and hot soppressata with the works listed above. If you’re not into that sort of thing - Turkey ($10.50), Prosciutto ($12.50), Roast Beef ($11.50) and a Veggie ($10) are all available at 26 Cedar Street or for delivery between the square of Whitehall St. to Rector St., Fulton to Front. Those of you counting carbs can convert the inner workings of your sammie into a salad for no extra charge. Sides of Deep River Potato Chips (Original or Salt & Vin), Snack Factory Pretzels, Homemade Hummus and All Natural Gus Sodas can turn your lunch into a feast.

Dessert! Another Philly import, Tastykake products, is yours for the buying. Never had a confection from Tasty Baking Company founded in 1914? You must splurge on a Peanut Butter Kandy Kake, Butterscotch Krimpet or a cream filled Butter Cream Cupcake (or all three)! They’re like Hostess on Jersey Shore steroids.

Dave’s Hoagies is open Monday – Friday: 10:30 AM – 3:30 PM, Saturday: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM for take out and delivery. Self-Seating is a whopping 4 counter seats so don’t bank on eating in.
