“Samantha (well, Kim Cattrall) to Host the James Beard Awards”

The James Beard Foundation announced today that the Awards’ Gala, to be held June 8th at Avery Fisher Hall, will be hosted by Sex & the City’s Kim Cattrall. That’s a pretty impressive get for the Beard Foundation, and certainly she’ll bring some sizzle to the “red carpet.”

But the best part of the announcement was the press release, which has a pretty amusing explanation of their decision to choose Cattrall: “A leading figure in the entertainment industry, Kim will shine a new light on the awards and further enhance the Foundation’s mission to elevate the nation’s consciousness of America’s culinary culture.”

Are you kidding? She’s going to elevate the nation’s consciousness of culinary culture? I may have to question your logic there. They also offer this tidbit: “Beyond the stage and screen, Kim has a known interest in the culinary world which has been enhanced through her boyfriend Alan Wyse.” She’s dating a personal chef so she’s ready to host the Beard Awards? That’s a stretch.

In any case, here’s the cliffhanger—they have not announced her co-host yet. Any guesses? Share your two cents below!
