Calexico may have the Brooklyn taco market cornered, and understandably so, but give Fletcher’s Brooklyn Barbecue (433 Third Avenue, Brooklyn, NY, 347-763-2680, www.fletchersbklyn.com) a chance. They've just added Smoked Meat Tacos ($5 each) to their lunch menu and they're a worthy competitor to the terrific Calexico model. 

Available Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11:30 to 2:30, the tacos come filled with wood-fired skirt steak or tri-tip with pico de gallo, cilantro, red onion and Fletcher’s signature Brooklyn white sauce, or wood-fired chicken with salsa verde, pico de gallo, cilantro, red onion and Brooklyn white sauce, both served on warm flour tortillas.
