The Strong Buzz

If you've decided to skip the Hamptons this summer, you can still get your salt water fix at King & Grove, along with a refreshing selection of cocktails, boozy ice pops and beer buckets. Beginning this Saturday, May 25th, King & Grove in Williamsburg offers two ways to enjoy summer: its salt-water pool and new rooftop lounge, Upper Elm.

The three-season salt water pool ($35 per person on weekdays and $45 on weekends)—one of the largest outdoor swimming pools in New York City—will serve an all day menu with dishes like Shrimp Tempura BLT (Benton’s Bacon, Bibb lettuce and heirloom tomato); Lobster Lettuce Cup (scallion, Thai basil, chili); Chicken Wings (Cataluna spice, pimento, potato skins) and Dry Aged Burger with spicy pickles, tomato confit and white cheddar.

The lounge atop the boutique hotel has undergone a redesign and will launch as Upper Elm. The space offers bites, cocktails and stunning views of the Manhattan skyline. Snacks include Shrimp Tempura with nori aioli and charred lime and Mangalitsa Charcuterie. The cocktail menu, created by mixologist Johnny Swet (Jimmy | Cole’s | Rogue & Canon), features drinks like the McCarren Spritzer (Rose, St. Germaine, Grapefruit); Mezcal Michelada (Modelo Especial, sangrita and cilantro served in a Modelo can); and Fresca de Sandia (Blue Agace Silver tequila, fresh watermelon and cilantro).

Seasonal music programming begins this weekend with resident DJ May Kwok. The series continues throughout the summer with special guests including DJ’s, live acoustic performances and Reggae Sunday industry nights. Check  www.kingandgrove.com for schedules.

King & Grove Williamsburg is located at 160 N 12th Street in Brooklyn, NY. Upper Elm is open Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday: 6PM-midnight and Friday-Saturday: 6PM-2AM. The Pool is open daily from 11am – 9pm. For more information, visit www.kingandgrove.com or call (718) 218-7500.
