“Edible Manhattan Launches This Week! ”

If you’ve come to love Edible East End this summer, or perhaps you make a point of picking up Edible Brooklyn when you’re at Stinky Brooklyn or the Co-op, you’ll be pleased to know that the publishers of this locavore literary mag are aiming their sights on the island we love called Manhattan.

The debut issue of Edible Manhattan, essential reading for anyone with a passion and for sustainable farming, local eating, and quirky food artisans, will be published six times a year and hits newsstands next week with stories by Dan Barber, Ed Levine and TONY's Gabriella Gershenson, as well as Ben Schmerler, Regina Schrambling and the Daily News' Rachel Wharton, among others (and some stories to come from me, too).

The premier issue contains stories where to find sushi anointed with real wasabi root (grated tableside on sharkskin), the best cookbook store in town (if not the country), the art-installation-dinner in the East Village, and the Lower East Side’s fermentation fete. In addition, you’ll find true tales of New Yorkers who like beehives atop skyscrapers, get a look inside fridges of the fabulous, consider the best breakfast sandwich in town, and interview the genius who transformed doughnuts downtown.

Every other month the latest issue of Edible Manhattan will be available at Whole Foods Market, Barnes & Noble, Border’s as well as food destinations like Zabar's, Eli's Manhattan, Blue Hill/Blue Hill at Stone Barns, Murray's Cheese and other restaurants, food retailers and wine shops that serve or sell consciously sourced food and drink. Enjoy!
