The Strong Buzz

The premise of Booze Carriage, a seven-month old alcohol delivery company, should be filed under “too good to be true.” Its promise:  all the beer, wine, and top-shelf spirits your heart desires, delivered to your doorstep, within an hour, for free (there is a $20 minimum). You can even add on five-pound bags of ice if you like ($2.99).

It works like this: Booze Carriage posts its supplier’s inventory on their site (everything from Breuckelen 77 Local Rye and Corn Whiskey to Berkshire Gin, to Chimay and PBR). You just enter a zip code (and check a 21 and over box), do your shopping, and within 30-60 minutes you are flush with booze. Delivery is free (YES, FREE!), and with no mark ups on the underlying product. It's not hard to understand why, since the website went live in June, the company now boasts six employees and an average of 50 orders per day.

“I have always enjoyed coming up with different ideas on how to sell things, how to make lives more convenient, and how to make something that is easy even easier,” said Vice President Brett Beller, who was part of the marketing team that launched the groovy line of Kind Bars.  “We don’t think our website will ever replace the neighborhood liquor story, but we hope that when it’s convenient, customers will use us." We think he’s right.

Booze Carriage delivers from the Financial District to 116th street and everywhere in between. It is also now delivering in Parts of Brooklyn and Queens:  Beer, wine and liquor in Williamsburg, Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Downtown Brooklyn, DUMBO, Brooklyn Heights, Cobble Hill, Gowanus, Carroll Gardens, Greenpoint, Long Island City and Roosevelt Island!

Happy Holidays!
