Night Out Italian Soho Moderate Don't Bother

n out into the rain—no one said goodnight or goodbye or thank you to us—and searched for a cab to find salvation in the form of dessert at Craftbar.

As we strolled through puddles the size of ponds, we ran into a cute young guy with a guitar who stopped us and told us he had just gotten a free cab ride for the song he sang about Russell Crowe. He told us he was an actor who had recently moved to New York and that it would only take 5 minutes and asked if we would listen. He had an amazing smile and a great energy, and we decided to stay and listen to the song, even though the rain was dripping (pouring) down my back. He tucked himself under the awning of a restaurant, started tapping his foot (splash splash) and in a deep, voice with a slightly awful Australian accent began to play a catchy phrase on his guitar and to sing:

Connect Me To Australia Please, My movie's doin terrible, I'm on my knees And I just want to talk to my mom

Connect me to Australia Please If you don't then I'm gonna have to bust your teeth In with this tele-----phone.

I'm at the Mercer Hotel And I'm not doin so well Oh Hell I guess I'll get in a fight that should make me feel all----right

I don't care if you're Tom Cruise If you don't connect me your face'll get bruised My movie sucks ass, I've got nothin to lose

You don't know How it feels to be Russell Crowe!!!!!!!

I think WE fit together like a hand in a glove but since we've only been banging for a week I think it’s much to early to even start to think about talking about LOVE!!!!!!!!!

I like you, Do you Like ME?????

Yes, it was fairly ridiculous, but it was pretty funny, the two of us, huddled under one of those $3 umbrellas in the torrential rain, listening to a spontaneous live show on Minetta Lane. It was rare. Rare and hilarious. After the encore, a cab miraculously appeared, we exchanged emails with the artist/actor Rodney Von Seldeneck (for performance schedule email rodmanclay@gmail.com), and we headed up to Craftbar where we dried off at the bar and found redemption in the form of two perfect desserts from a new star in my book—pastry chef Anya Regelin, ...
