While the Italian food at Il Buco is some of the most honest and well-executed of its kind in the city, Il Buco is all about atmosphere. The place is low-lit and warm, and filled with antiques (many for sale) and sturdy farmhouse tables that give the space the soft, inviting charm of an out-of-the-way farmhouse somewhere in the mountains. Romance is always a big draw, but even if you aren’t in love, go with friends. You’ll have a great meal, and you’ll leave feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. Il Buco, 47 Bond, b/w Bowery & Lafayette St., 212-533-1932.
