Owned by husband and wife team David Page (he is also executive chef) and Barbara Shinn, Home is one of those rare and wonderful restaurants that wraps you up in warmth, hospitality, grace, and delicious cuisine. Tucked away on a sleepy block of the West Village, Home offers diners homestyle American meals made from the season’s best ingredients. The restaurant has a charming outdoor garden (heated in winter), and also boasts one of the most extensive all New York State wine lists around town (the couple’s own wine, Shinn Merlot, made in the North Fork of Long Island will be on the list in 2004). This is a gem of a restaurant and should be shared with someone as special as it is.
