“Tea Party at Double Crown, Brunch at Salon de Ning, Five Dollar Recession Brunch at PJ Hanley's”

Saturday/Sunday: Tea Time at Double Crown, 316 Bowery (at Bleecker), 212-254-0350, www.doublecrown-nyc.com.

Double Crown is turning teatime topsy-turvy, banishing images of elevated pinky fingers and brocade pillows with its new boozy Saturday and Sunday afternoon tea parties. Served from 3:30-5:30pm, your East-meets-West tea service includes a selection of Double Crown’s reinvented tea sandwiches (smoked salmon, coronation chicken and streaky ham), scones with clotted cream and jam, and tea — hot, iced, or, yes, boozy! ($20 per person, $25 with a boozy iced tea like the one made with chamomile tea, Amaro and lemon). A simpler option, The Devonshire Tea, includes scones, clotted cream, homemade preserves, and spiced coffee cake ($10 each with choice of coffee/pot of tea/iced tea or $15 per person with choice of boozy iced tea). Cheers!

Saturday/Sunday: Al Fresco Brunch at Salon de Ning, The Peninsula Hotel, 700 5th Avenue, 23rd Floor, (212)-903-3923.

Brunch in the city never seems to get old, especially when the sun is shining across the skyline and it’s one of those perfect New York afternoons. Now add one more place on your list of al fresco brunches to dabble at this summer as Salon de Ning starts serving Sunday brunch on the terrace. A three-course menu is available as a live DJ entertains, with plates such as Cucumber and Avocado Gazpacho with grilled shrimp, yellow tomato salsa and cilantro, a bento-box style second course that gives a taste of brunch favorites with a vanilla roasted pineapple upside down tart for dessert. The menu changes weekly and pairs nicely with a selection of Champagne cocktails to choose from like the Beijing Rouge, a concoction of pomegranate juice, citrus vodka and Champagne.
The three-course brunch is $49 per person (excluding beverages, tax and gratuities) and is available every Sunday from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm.
