Public & The Monday Room

Where: 210 Elizabeth St. (between Prince and Spring Streets), 212-343-7011, http://public-nyc.com.
On the menu: Public and its bar, The Monday Room, gives you the SoHo experience of ringing in the new year with its warm but sleek interior. Brad Farmerie is offering a special six-course $120 tasting menu that includes a foie gras terrine with a gewürztraminer-hibiscus jelly and bacon brioche.
 
The Lambs Club
Where: 132 W. 44th St. (between Sixth and Seventh Avenues), 212-997-5262, www.thelambsclub.com.
On the menu: There’s no dress code here but you’ll want to do it up. After all, lots of A-list diners have been spotted here since the restaurant’s opening. The New Year’s Eve party starts at 9 p.m. with canapés and cocktails in the Lobby Bar before Geoffrey Zakarian cooks up a three-course menu in the restaurant. A Krug Champagne toast will commence at midnight and there’s an open bar, DJ and dancing until 3 a.m. (that’s $150 extra). Of course it all comes at price when you’re hanging out in a swanky restaurant: $300 per person (excluding beverages with dinner).
 
Osteria il Paiolo
Where: 106 N. Sixth St. (between Berry and Whyte) in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, 718-218-7080, www.ilpaiolonyc.com.
On the menu: Some Italians believe eating cotechino con lenticchie, a traditional dish with homemade sausage and lentils, brings good luck in the new year. At Alex Palumbo’s intimate Osteria il Paiolo, you get that and much more for a hearty, Italian feast before raising a toast at midnight. Other specials that night include a spinach and ricotta ravioli in butter and sage ($18.50), braised baby goat served with vegetables ($31.50) and a fish stew filled with mussels, shrimp, clams, lobster, calamari and codfish ($32.50).
 
Vandaag
Where: 103 Second Ave. (at Sixth St.), 212-253-0470, www.vandaagnyc.com.
On the menu: Vandaag made a splash this year with its vaguely Dutch-influenced menu. The result? Dishes that use seasonal (and even foraged) ingredients for food that tastes clean and packed with flavor. Chef Phillip Kirschen-Clark has a nine-course tasting menu planned for the evening. Whether you book an early seating from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. ($100) or a late seating from 9 to 10 p.m. ($150; includes a midnight Champagne toast), you’ll work your way through a menu that starts with pickled north Atlantic oysters and raw-charred Spanish mackerel before working your way to pepper steak and a lemon meringue. There’s an optional $50 pairing with cocktails, beers and wines.
 
‘21’ Club
Where: 21 W. 52nd St. (between Fifth and Sixth Avenues), 212-582-7200, www.21club.com.
On the menu: At the 21 Club this year, it’s all about dining and dancing. The “Countdown to Midnight” party starts at 9 p.m. with a four-course meal prepared by chef John Greeley, served in the Bar Room and in the more romantic Upstairs at ‘21.’ At $175 per person, the meal kicks off with options such as sweet potato and lobster bisque and a duo of seared sea scallops and grilled pork belly and with entrees of everything from roasted black bass to grilled filet mignon and braised short ribs. To make things extra special, Royal Sterling caviar ($125) and North Star caviar ($90) will be available, too.
 
Zengo
Where: 622 Third Ave. (at 40th St.), 212-808-8110, www.thepopuprestaurant.com.
On the menu: Zengo, the new Latin-Asian fusion restaurant and lounge, wants to end the year on a bang. Chef Richard Sandoval is teaming up with Alan Philips, of the Guerilla Culinary Brigade, to launch “Socialism, the Dining Revolution,” a supper club concept on New Year’s Eve. There will be a 7 p.m. seating at $75 per person and a 9:30 p.m. seating at $150 per person (which includes access to an open bar). You can expect a slew of Latin-Asian dishes and you can also check out the new Sake and Shochu lounge. For those looking to dance more than dine, a $100 ticket gets you access to an open bar for five hours, antojitos and a midnight sake toast.
 
Tocqueville
Where: 1 E. 15th St. (at Fifth Ave.), 212-647-1515, www.tocquevillerestaurant.com.
On the menu: If you want an elegant end to 2010, Tocqueville is a great choice. It’s a beautiful setting that’s not so luxurious that you feel uptight the entire night. Three course menus will be served during the first and second seatings, at 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. ($75) and 8 to 11 p.m. ($95). A five-course menu goes for $125 all evening. Chef Marco Moreira’s menu includes hearty dishes like a homemade roasted potato gnocchi as an appetizer and an entree of honey-glazed Peking duck breast and leg terrine. There’s also an extensive dessert selection with choices like Sicilian blood orange cheesecake and coconut tofu bathed in a citrus consommé and candied kumquats.
 
15 East
Where: 15 E. 15th St. (at Fifth Ave.), 212-647-0015, www.15eastrestaurant.com.
On the menu: A gem of a sushi restaurant that’s often forgotten among Masa and Morimoto, 15 East is a perfect outing for the Japanese food lover. Chef Marco Moreira and sushi chef Masato Shimizu have a four and six-course prix fixe menus to choose from throughout the night. The first seating is 5:30 to 7 p.m. ($95), and the second seating is 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. ($110). Both include the black cod with hamahama oyster dish and sushi omakase. The six-course menu available at both seatings ($125 and $140, respectively) includes a foie gras custard “chawanmushi,” sashimi omakase and an almond tofu dessert.
 
Fatty Crab
Where: 643 Hudson St., 212-352-3592; 2170 Broadway, 212-496-2722.
On the menu: The chili crab is one of the signature dishes at Fatty Crab. Well, for New Year’s Eve, it’s an all-you-can eat crab feast for $75. You get unlimited 18 ounces portions of Dungeness crab with chili sauce and toast. You also get an amuse, a choice of Fatty sliders or steamed buns (pork or veggie), mochi cakes and Champagne.
