“Brunch at Bell Book and Candle, Cassoulet Cook Off, and Smoking (meat) Lessons”

All Weekend Long: New Brunch at Bell Book & Candle

Bell Book & Candle (141 West 10th Street; 212-414-2355; www.bbandcnyc.com) in the West Village will be starting brunch this weekend (Saturdays and Sundays) from 11:00 am to 3:30 pm. The brunch menu will include a variety of bites and sides from their dinner menu such as Crispy Fried Oysters with Green Chile Buttermilk Dressing, Drunken Bean Dip with Cypress Grove goat cheese and marinated tomatoes and Roasted Eggplant Puree. Brunch additions will include Steak & Eggs Benedict with grilled hanger steak, poached eggs and Béarnaise, a BBC Burrito with scrambled eggs, chorizo, drunken beans, jack and salsa verde, and French Toast with caramelized bananas, toasted almonds and whipped butter. Yummy.

Saturday: Cook Your Cassoulet Off

More than a dozen chefs and amateurs will be cooking their cassoulet's off on Saturday A cassoulet from 1 to 4 p.m. Jimmy's No. 43 (43 East Seventh Street, near Third Avenue). A panel of experts will judge the cassoulets, which must be made with ingredients from Greenmarkets. Attendees will also have a chance to vote. Admission is $20 at the door, to benefit GrowNYC, which sponsors the markets.

Smoking (meat) Class

Pitmaster "Big" Lou Elrose will be at Wildwood  this Saturday, January 22nd from 11am-2pm, to teach you the art of smoking at home. You'll learn how to make smoked pork butt and spare ribs on the grill, while you enjoy lunch and beer tastings.
