“Vegan Pizza Tour, Loreley's Holiday Pop-Up Market, Tiny's Sunday Gravy”

Vegan Pizza Tour

Local pizza enthusiast/historian Scott Wiener is proud to announce a 100% vegan pizza tour this Saturday, December 10, through NYC’s Lower East Side from 11:45am to 2:30pm. The tour will visit three pizzerias, tasting a slice at each stop. Each pizzeria will feature a different style of pizza, ranging from Neapolitan to Roman to New York style.

The tour was inspired by Wiener’s brother, a vegan since 2009, who had trouble finding vegan pizza on a recent visit New York. The two brothers set out to find pizzerias that could make a great pie without the need for cheese and meat. The resulting data attracted attention from other vegans and became the basis for this brand new tour.

Your tour comes with your own Pizza Tour Survival Kit – a goody bag filled with palate cleansers, wet naps and pizza spices (all vegan). Besides leading the group to three of the city's best spots for vegan pizza, Wiener will discuss the evolution of this common street dish from its humble origins in Southern Italy to the 19th century by-the-slice boom. The group will also have the opportunity to speak with the chefs and owners behind the slices being samples on tour.

Scott’s Pizza Tours launched to critical acclaim in 2008, having been ranked #1 in NYC (Yelp.com) a Top Ten US Tour by Tripadvisor in 2009. Founder Scott Wiener has appeared on the Travel Channel, Cooking Channel, Discovery Channel and several local stations. Wiener also contributes to Pizza Today Magazine, PMQ’s Pizza Magazine, PizzaMarketplace.com and the popular pizza blog Slice.
