Sunday Dinners at Aldea

Dinner at Aldea any night of the week is a treat. Sunday is no exception now that chef George Mendes has begun serving prix fixe dinners from 5pm to 9pm. Chef Mendes will prepare two tasting menu options, each changing weekly. The a la carte menu will not be available. Instead choose from five courses ($65 or $90 with wine pairings), or eight courses ($95, $140 with wine parings).

The first dinner will includes dishes such as sea urchin with Siberian caviar, poultry gelee and cauliflower; tuna loin and toro with yuzu, sunflower and burdock root; and Scottish red legged partridge with black truffle farce royal, red cabbage and pear.

Kids Food Festival this Weekend

A free food festival for kids, emphasizing healthful eating, is set for Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Bryant Park, on the 42nd Street side near the Celsius restaurant. Kiosks will offer samples of foods, and there will be children’s activities. Chefs, including Sam Talbot, Jim Lahey and David Burke, will give cooking demonstrations; $25 a ticket (good for one child, who can be accompanied free by up to two adults): kidsfoodfestival.com.
