“Choosing the Right Wine, Planting the Seeds of Love Benefit, Thai Cooking Classes at Ngam”

How to Choose The Right Wine

On Friday February 10 from 6:30pm - 8:30pm, Maslow 6 (211b West Broadway, 212-226-3127) will host one of their Sommelier Series events - How to Find the Perfect Wines for a Special Dinner with Urs Kaufmann (formerly of Le Bernardin) who will speak about wine parings for special occasions - just in time for Valentine's Day.

Urs Kaufmann will demystify the pairing process by breaking down the components of what one tastes in a wine. For a particular meal, does one need a light, medium or full bodied wine? What flavors will work best for what’s on the menu? You will taste 8 different wines with some typical ingredients from special occasion meals during a fun-filled yet educational evening.

Tickets are $50 (all inclusive) and can be purchased at www.Maslow6.com.

The wines:
Los Bermejos Lanzarote Espumoso Brut Nature NV Canary Islands ($52)
Dr. Weins-Prum Graacher Himmelreich, Mosel, Germany ($23)
Toquade 2010 Sauvignon Blanc, Napa, US ($26)

“Planting the Seeds of Love will offer the community an opportunity to learn more about Somos la Llave’s important work in the mid-Hudson Valley,” said Betsey McCall, Garden Coordinator. “As the local food movement continues to build all over this country, more and more people are showing an interest in planting their own gardens and growing their own food. We are raising funds that will go toward purchasing seeds, plant starts, garden tools, wheelbarrows, and everything needed to operate a garden. Planting the Seeds of Love will be a festive way for people to show their support for local food and their community.”

All of the proceeds from Planting the Seeds of Love benefit the garden. Somos La Llave del Futuro is a 501(c)(3) non-profit. For more information, please visit plantingtheseedsoflove.info or send an email to betseymccall@gmail.com.
