“Meyhane at Pera Soho, Pancake Social, St. Patty's Day Festival”

Meyhane Debuts at Pera Soho

For those of you who have not yet visited Pera Soho, I'll say this: You'll want to get there sooner than later. The food is delicious, as it is at uptown, with its signature puffy pitas and savory lamb Adana, but the décor is quite a bit more sexy and loungey than its more proper Midtown sibling, with a fantastic and sprawling al fresco space equipped with fire pits for warming you on these cool evenings.  (They're planning spit roasts for summertime.)

This weekend might be a nice time to check it out as they launch their first Meyhane Hour this Saturday. Inspired by the traditional casual Turkish tavern called a meyhane - pronounced may-HAH-nay - devoted to the convivial drinking of alcoholic libations and of consumption of a variety of mezes (in fact, translation is "wine house), Pera Soho is offering $6 signature drinks and wines, as well as all draft beers, complemented by only $6 for any two meze from a field of nine intriguing choices.

So for 12 bucks - the cost of your average cocktail - you can drink and eat. You can do so inside at the marble bar, in the comfortable lounge seating or outside where a fire pit and fleecy blankets chase any lingering winter chill in the lounge area of Pera's oh-so-very-private garden.

Drinks list and meze menu follows.  Saturday and Sunday Meyhane Hour at Pera Soho is 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday.  Pera Soho,www.peranyc.com/soho,  is located at 54 Thompson Street at the corner of Broome, 212-878-6305.

Pancake Social at David Burke

David Burke is elevating pancakes to new heights with his first Pancake Social, now every Saturday from 10am-3pm in the main dining room at David Burke Kitchen.

It's sort of a Benny Hanna experience for pancakes. Here's how it goes: You have a seat at the central carving table and watch as your pancakes are griddled to order and topped with everything from mixed berries ($10) to layers of pastrami salmon, horseradish mousse and pickled onions ($15). Other takes on the morning staple include Giant Black and White ($10) made with cocoa and vanilla batters to look like the namesake cookie. Burke is also offering fluffy buttermilk pancakes ($5) with creamery butter and maple syrup for those who prefer to stick with the classics.

David Burke Kitchen is located at 23 Grand Street, 212.201.9119
