“Digital Food Photography Workshop, Beer & Deer at Flatbush Farm, and Anti-Nouveau Beaujolais Dinner at Elettaria”

Saturday: Digital Food Photography Workshop for the Food Blogger with Lou Manna at the Lou Manna Studio, 126 5th Avenue at 18th St.

If you’ve just started a blog or just want to learn to take better food photos, join award winning photographer Lou Manna for a day-long digital food photography seminar on Saturday from 10am – 5pm. The workshop begins with one-on-one meetings where Lou will review your food blog and/or photographs, and offer individual advice with constructive critique. The day proceeds with a Power Point presentation to provide an overview of the basics of digital food photography and some secrets. Lou will also review the different features found on most digital cameras, highlighting how they can be used correctly to optimize any situation.

The afternoon will be dedicated to hands-on practice. There will be four different sets to mimic typical lighting situations: window lighting, kitchen lighting, restaurant/dim lighting, and flash lighting. Lou will demonstrate how to work with each specific light source, how to use mirrors, diffusers and small white cards to create mouth-watering photographs with a simple point and shoot camera.  You’ll then utilize your new skills to shoot each set-up while Lou offers individual guidance to optimize their photographic techniques.

Lunch will be provided.  You are required to bring your own camera. This workshop is recommended for Beginners.  Note: This Workshop is $249 a person and is limited to 10 participants. To register, please call Joan O’Brien at (212) 727-2505.
