This Weekend: EAT OUT FOR VICTIMS OF SANDY

Whether you are out there making and delivering meals, or shopping online, purchasing items from the Occupy Sandy Registry, I know you are all trying to help those in need.

Here are a few other ways you can help, just by eating out:

The Added Value Community Farm in Red Hook, Brooklyn, which was devastated by the storm, will benefit from a three-course dinner on Sunday at Palo Santo, 652 Union Street (Fourth Avenue), Park Slope, Brooklyn. The cost is $50, including drinks and tax (tip is extra): (718) 636-6311.

This year’s Chocolate Show at Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 West 18th Street, will have a booth where visitors can drop off coats to be donated to New York Cares, which is starting its drive earlier than usual, to help victims of the storm. Advance tickets for the show, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., are $35 for those 13 years or older, on Friday and Sunday, $40 for Saturday: chocolateshow.com.

City Grit, which runs dining events, will hold dinners on Sunday, Tuesday and Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m. at 38 Prince, 38 Prince Street (Mott Street), $70.77 plus drinks and tip, with half the profits to be donated to Tunnel to Towers Relief Fund: citygritnyc.com.

On Sunday, November 11th, 2012, Park Avenue Autumn Executive Chef Kevin Lasko and Writer Jen Murphy (AFAR Magazine) will host a dinner at Park Avenue Autumn (100 East 63rd Street) to raise money for their hometown of Point Pleasant, NJ in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. The four-course menu will be offered with wine pairings and a suggested donation of $150 per person, with all of the proceeds raised going to benefit the Point Boro E.M.S. and Fire Squad, which suffered damage during the storm. Dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. and reservations can be made at (212) 644-1900.  

The Meatball Shop will give a portion of free meatballs to anyone who donates a blanket at one of the chain’s locations, 84 Stanton Street (Allen Street); 64 Greenwich Avenue (Perry Street); and 170 Bedford Avenue (North Seventh Street), Williamsburg, Brooklyn. sant's Police Chief and Borough Council to determine those most in need of assistance.
