“Craftsteak becomes Colicchio & Sons”

Craftsteak has become Colicchio & Sons (85 Tenth Avenue, (212) 400-6699). The change reflects the slump in the economy and a consequential shift in many New Yorker’s appetites from lavish steak dinners to more homey, farm-to-table cuisine of a significantly lesser price tag. But Colicchio's desire to change Craftsteak is only in part an ode to the failing economy. It also sprung from his successful (and very personal cooking) at the Tom: Tuesday Dinner nights served in the private dining room of Craft.

Colicchio & Sons, which will begin taking reservations on January 11th, is decidedly more cozy than Craftsteak, with a front Tap Room serving a menu of specialties from the wood-burning oven along with an extensive selection of artisan beers, as well as a wines by the glass and bottle. In the dining room you can expect a regularly changing menu Colicchio’s personal culinary musings, created and inspired by local, seasonal ingredients.

(And for a great steak, just go to Maialino. Yes. The steak is fantastic.)
