“BK Wok Shop”

Imagine a Chinese restaurant that provides delicious take-out that you know and love, only made with quality ingredients by a classically trained chef. Brooklyn Wok Shop in Williamsburg is taking this Chinese 2.0 concept and running with it. Chef/owner Edric Har (formerly of Le Bernardin and Cru) is making noodles every day from scratch, using antibiotic/hormone-free meats, and washing all his ingredients with filtered water. Edric’s wife Melissa, comes from a family of restaurateurs, and together they are making sure that all food coming out of their kitchen is fresh, delicious, and approachable. This is food you will recognize; yet you will taste the difference.

The menu is comprised of traditional items like Wonton soup (with those house-made noodles), General Tso’s chicken, and Orange Beef. There are also new spins on the staples, like Spicy Curry Wonton soup, Chicken Wings (with a soy-cinnamon glaze), and Beef with Broccoli (made with Hangar steak). It’s fine touches and twists like these that aim to make Brooklyn Wok Shop different than your run of the mill takeout joint. The interior is simple and modern, with blonde-wood slats and a mural of Mandarin blue China bowls on the walls, so whether you’re looking for takeout or a sit-down dinner, Brooklyn Wok Shop fits the bill. And speaking of bill, considering all the prep and quality selection that goes into their menu, the pricepoint is not too high, with entrées coming in around $10.50-$12.50.

Brooklyn Wok Shop is located at 182 North 10th Street. Hours are Sun, Mon, Wed, Thurs, 5:30-10 pm, closed Tuesday, and Fri-Sat, 5:30-11 pm. 347-889-7992.
