“Buddha Beer Bar Opens in Washington Heights”

Delirium Tremens (a strong Belgian pale ale). Krusovice (a Czech pilsner). Blue Point Toasted lager from Cooperstown, N.Y. Sure enough, it was only a matter time before our love of fancy beers crept uptown.

The opening of Buddha Beer Bar in Washington Heights is the latest to check out. Chef and owner James Lee, who also owns 181 Cabrini in the neighborhood, is offering 24 different beers on tap, 18 bottled beers, growlers to go and a vast bourbon collection — all with a global theme. There’s also an online beer club to be launched soon so anyone can track which beer they’ve downed and how close they’ve reached “beer nirvana.”

The food reflects the same theme and includes Korean style fried chicken, Texas chicken fried steak, a variety of tacos and various foods on skewers, like cow hearts and Thai-style pork. Whether it’s the drinks or food, Lee said he’s aimed to create a bar with no pretension. Now that’s something we can drink to.

Buddha Beer Bar is located at 4476 Broadway (between 191st and 192nd Streets), 646-861-2595, www.buddhabeerbar.com
