“Crave Fishbar Now Open”

Brian Owens and chef Todd Mitgang have opened Crave Fishbar, a lively seafood restaurant in Midtown. Designed by Nicole Cota Studios and SL Design, the 60-seat space is housed in a 19th century townhouse across the street from the original Crave Ceviche Bar, which was destroyed in a crane accident in 2008.

The menu includes dishes from the original menu including spicy tuna on plancha grilled yucca with lime butter and toasted nori, along with brand new dishes including house-smoked bluefish with butter lettuces, heirloom carrots, local radishes and dill, and vinegar fried Amish chicken leg with Adirondack cheddar Israeli couscous and a sweet and spicy pepper relish.

When your restaurant is destroyed by a crane, the least you can do is recycle the rubbish in the next incarnation and that’s precisely what this team has done. An eclectic mix of salvaged materials from the original restaurant and custom made chairs and tables created by Recycled Brooklyn lend a beachy, rustic feel to the space, which houses a 25-foot-long bar.

Crave Fishbar is located at 945 Second Avenue (Between 50th-51st Streets), 646.895.9585, www.cravefishbar.com/

Hours: Monday-Wednesday, 5:30-10pm; Thursday-Saturday, 5:30-11:30pm; Sunday, 3:30-9pm
