“Laurent Tourondel Opens LT Burger Near Bryant Park”

LT Burger, envisioned by acclaimed Chef Laurent Tourondel along with Globe Hospitality Group LLC, opens today in the heart of midtown near Bryant Park [8 West 40th Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues].  This restaurant is the second location of LT Burger; the first opened in Sag Harbor, Long Island in the summer of 2010.  Similar to the original location, LT Burger Bryant Park focuses on Tourondel’s interpretation of American classics – notably the beloved burger.

 

 

The menu features over ten burgers made with Certified Angus Beef [“LT Backyard” with grilled hickory smoked bacon, NY State Cheddar and LT sauce], organic ground turkey [“Heritage Turkey” with yogurt and fresh herbs served on an onion bun]; BBQ pulled pork [“Pork Star” with horseradish slaw, tobacco onion and pickle]; chicken [“Dirty Chicken” with smoked gouda, coleslaw and frizzle onion] and tuna [“Tuna Chipotle” with avocado, roasted bell pepper and arugula].

 

 

 

To pair with your burger there are savory French fries [skinny, waffle, sweet potato] and other accompaniments including Cole Slaw and Kosher Fried Dill Pickles served with smoked buttermilk-ranch dressing are available to complement each burger.

 

LT Burger also offers a substantial non-burger menu with items such as Kobe Hot Dog, Apple Smoked BBQ Baby Back Ribs, Kickass Wings! [available with sweet & sticky or bbq sauce], and Mucho Nachos [chopped brisket, melted sharp cheddar and salsa], which are also available on the happy hour menu offered daily at the bar. Lighter fare, including a variety of salads such as Tomato, Burrata & Grilled Bacon and 12 Veg Salad, is also served.

 

 

The restaurant has a full liquor license and serves wine and a selection of over 30 beers, with 14 on draft ranging from domestic, imported and craft. The restaurant’s signature shakes There are also shakes and sweets.

 

 

LT Burger is located on Nikola Tesla Way [West 40th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues] in a duplex space that was a former bank. The design embraces the building’s deep history through the restoration of original detailing such as white marble walls, ironwork and tin ceilings.  Oak wood paneled walls are featured throughout both floors, further accenting the white marble work. 

 

 

On the first floor, which accommodates seating for 90, vintage brass lighting fixtures reclaimed from an old church hang above tufted banquettes, vintage benches and smoked mirrors.  The staircase, adorned with original railings, leads diners to the second floor which displays a cutout map of the United States etched into the original exposed brick.  The second floor, replete with a variety of seating for 60 includes two large communal tables, vintage schoolhouse tables with accompanying vibrant orange chairs, booths and benches.  Multiple televisions are displayed throughout the restaurant to modernize the old-school look.
