“Bellows Falls...Your Culinary Retreat is Here”

Imagine the following scenario for just a moment. You escape the jam-packed swelter of New York City and travel north to the charming village of Bellows Falls, Vermont (the “front porch capital of the world”) on the breezy and majestic Connecticut River. There, you are welcomed by your food-loving culinary hosts who usher you inside their charming, white clapboard Victorian home. You’re given time to settle into to your private bedroom furnished with a queen-sized bed (with "memory foam"), a private bath, a food-lover's library, Wi-fi, with an adjoining study/lounge that can be converted into a comfortable sleeping arrangement for two more, children, or others.

Your retreat in Bellows Falls

After you've unpacked, you head out to porch for some refreshments, or take a stroll through their herb garden. You’re welcomed officially with a home-cooked dinner on Friday, and the next morning, served fresh country breakfasts with Kimbo coffee, homemade bread, fluffy eggs, house made galettes, and fresh fruit and cheese. For dinner on Saturday, you’re treated to a Mediterranean meal crafted from local products. In between meals, you’ll have the chance to tour local cheesemakers, sugarhouses, and small organic farms. If you’re so inclined you can also take a cooking class (the art of pizza or pasta making, $75 per couple), or an Italian language class ($25/hour per couple). Of course there’s also just being lazy on a porch, taking a leisurely stroll, swimming, biking, and hiking. Welcome to your Fresh Air Retreat.

This new customized culinary escape is the labor of love of Roberto Gautier (formerly of Roberto Cappuccino on Court Street, Coco Pazzo, Fauchon, and a frequent Cheesemonger at the Union Square Greenmarket booth of Cato Corner) and Elissa Descoteau (a photographer), a couple who envisioned creating an under the radar and very personalized weekend retreat experience modeled on the Italian stanza in famiglia ("room with a family"). So next weekend, instead of hitting the LIE, head north, and retreat!

Their weekend package for two is $500 (cash or check, no credit cards) and can be customized to suit your heart’s desires.

For more information please call 802-463-2142 or email Roberto at hermacinda@aol.com.

Enjoy!
