“The Teaching Kitchen at Lake Placid Lodge”

There are plenty of “cooking classes” in NYC, but summer's here and you may want to get out of dodge. Head north!

Lake Placid Lodge, the only resort hotel in lovely Lake Placid, has just announced the opening of a Teaching Kitchen. This state of the art kitchen is designed to be appealing to both novices and professionals, where students can choose from one on one demonstrations to group classes for up to twelve people.

The Lake Placid Lodge Teaching Kitchen is led by Executive Chef Nathan Rich, who joined the Relais & Chateaux property from the Mandarin Oriental Boston in early 2011. He and his seasoned team will oversee all food and beverage aspects of the kitchen and cooking classes.

General Manager John Graham says guests can expect the same laid-back environment they feel in the hotel. Says, “We have always welcomed all guests into the kitchen to observe and even roll up their sleeves and partake in culinary preparation. It was an organic progression to install the teaching kitchen. Like the demeanor of the hotel, the kitchen will be very laid back and casual; guests can even sip on a glass of wine during a class demonstration”.

Upcoming classes include the Sweet September cooking series (4 weeks), Fall Gastro-Getaway (weekend of October 20-23) featuring a guest chef from Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group, and Thanksgiving Children’s Culinary Week in November.

Lake Placid Lodge is located at 144 Lodge Way, Lake Placid NY; 518-523-2700
