“Rose Tastings, Shinn Estate Wine Dinner, Beer Flights and Sommelier Free Sundays”

Saturday: Rosé Dinner at Benoit, 60 West 55th Street (between 5th and 6th Avenues), 646-943-7373

On Saturday get ready to welcome spring with “A Taste of Vine and Rose” at Alain Ducasse’s bistro, Benoit. The event, which will be held in the restaurant’s bar en terrace, features 20 different French rosés from 12 domaines including Domaine de Rimauresq, Château Routas, Mas de Cadenet, and Château d'Esclans, along with a selection of bistro snacks courtesy of executive chef Pierre Schaedelin, including bites of charcuterie, tarte flambée and pissaladière. Tickets are $35 (includes entrance to the event, food, rosé, tax and gratuity). Space is limited, so be sure and RSVP with Benoit’s private events director Carrie McCully at c.mccully@benoitny.com. Tickets can be picked up and paid for at the door.

Sunday: Shinn Estate Wine Dinner with Tom Schaudel at A Mano, 13550 Main Road, Mattituck, 631-298-4800

If you’re out on the North Fork for the weekend (lucky you), you might want to spend Sunday evening with Shinn Estate’s David Page and Barbara Shinn and chef Tom Schaudel of A Mano (in Mattituck) who will cook dinner to pair up with Shinn Estate wines.
The 2007 Sauvignon Blanc-Semillon "first fruit" will be paired with shrimp, fava beans and rosemary. Their 2007 Rosé (quite robust) will be paired with Tom's duck Carbonara and the 2006 Estate Merlot will be matched with a meaty piece of tuna with sautéed ramps, smoked tomato, and truffled pea puree, followed by duck breast with morel risotto and grilled asparagus which will be paired with their 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon. There’s always something new to try at Park Slope’s Beer Table and this Sunday they’re hosting Scott and Kjell from Nogne-O of Norway. The team of brewers will be on hand to answer questions and while you taste a flight of their beers. The tasting will be held from 4-5pm and reservations are not necessary. AND....Sommelier Free Sundays at The Modern (9 West 53rd Street, between Fifth and Sixth Avenues), 333-1220). Every Sunday, corkage fees are waived at The Modern. You’ll get your own wine key so you pour your own wines at your table.
