“Brunch at The Vanderbilt, Preparing for Superbowl Sunday”

Sunday: Brunch at The Vanderbilt

Celebrated Brooklyn Chef Saul Bolton (of SAUL Restaurant) and partner Ben Daitz (co-owner of Num Pang Sandwich Shop) have gotten nice reviews since the opening of The Vanderbilt in the fall. Now the pair is ready to roll out brunch on Sundays starting in February.

Bolton, a Michelin-starred chef, will expand on his creative, new American small plates and old school cocktails. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays, you can start small with hors d’oeuvres like Brussels sprouts ($5; dressed in Sriracha, lime and honey), Serrano ham croquettes ($8), blistered shishito peppers ($6; served with pimenton salt) or golden pickled eggs ($4; with a side of hydrabadi chutney).

For larger appetites (like mine) try the eggs Vanderbilt ($13), a riff on eggs Benedict made with jambon de Paris or Bloomsdale spinach, spicy Hollandaise and an English muffin. Other new American options include a smoked trout crepe ($12; it’s served with melted leeks and sunny side eggs), baked eggs ($12) and steamed mussels ($12; served with coconut, basil and chili). After you’ve woken up with a cup of Stumptown coffee, the adult beverages include the Mississippi Morning ($8; Cognac, Lemon, English breakfast tea, nectarine) and the Vandy Shandy ($6; Slyfox Pikeland PIls, ginger, bespoke bitters, lemon soda, twist). Enjoy!

The Vanderbilt is located at 570 Vanderbilt Ave. in Prospect Heights, 718-623-0570, www.thevanderbiltnyc.com.
