Saturday: Join Graffiti’s Jehangir Mehta at Whole Foods for Kids Food Adventure

Whole Foods has joined forces with Jehangir Mehta, chef and owner of Graffiti and “Next Iron Chef” competitor, to launch the Kids Food Adventure —a new program aimed at encouraging kids to explore healthy new foods and flavors.

The program launches on Saturday from 10-12 at Whole Foods Bowery where Jehangir will host an in-store experience that includes walking the aisles of Whole Foods Market exploring raw ingredients. During this aisle expedition kids will have the opportunity to choose an ingredient they don’t recognize and then learn how to cook it in a hands-on cooking demonstration. In addition to the in-store event the program will feature online events and resources including recipes and tips, blogs and online chats to help parents create fun and healthy eating for the family. The class is $30 per parent/child pair. Register online at www.wholefoodsmarket.com/stores/boweryculinary. Whole Foods Market Bowery is located at 95 East Houston Street at Bowery, 212.420.1320

All Weekend: Brunch Begins at the Brindle Room 277 E. 10th St., near Ave. A, 212-529-9702

When chef Jeremy Spector left Employees Only his career took a rather unusual turn. He started a homemade hot dog and soda cart in the West Village and then was the opening chef at Dogmatic Sausage Company, a Union Square fast-casual spot for exceptionally tasty homemade sausages, wieners and wursts.

Now comes the Brindle Room, a relatively new East Village spot where he’s serving a menu of eclectic comfort food in the space that was most recently Persimmon. His dinner menu boasts dishes like potted shrimp, steak tartare, salt-roasted beets, duck-confit poutine and chicken-fried steak. This weekend Jeremy is bringing out the brunch with a mouthwatering menu that smoked trout and potato hash with poached eggs ($12), a potato chip frittata with cheddar, scallions and paprika ($10), challah French toast with banana and nutella ($11), and shrimp with parmesan grits with white hominy, poached eggs and scampi butter ($11).  Brunch is served both Saturdays and Sundays. Enjoy.

Sunday Night: Break Out of Your Shell at Pranna, 79 Madison Avenue @ 28th Street,  (212) 696-5700

Pranna, the modern Indian restaurant on lower Madison Avenue, has just launched a fun family-style Sunday night lobster dinner with endless spiked tamarind and pisco punch for just $25 per person. The lobster dinner includes your choice of steamed or broiled lobster served with Malay curry, vegetables, and a Kaffir lime and bird chili dipping butter. Start off with your choice of paneer and potato croquettes, green papaya salad, or steamed pork dumpling, and for dessert mango ginger flan or the Pranna mini bakery (a selection of fresh baked cookies and cakes).

Happy weekend!
