“Smorrebrod Table at New Amsterdam Market and Lobsterpalooza and The Mermaid Inn”

Sunday: The Smørrebrød Table 2010 and BEER GARDEN at the New Amsterdam Market

This Sunday, November 14 the Consulate General of Denmark and New Amsterdam Market invite you to a festival of Smørrebrød (pronounced smoe-bruth), unique Danish open-faced sandwiches made with hearty rugbrød (Danish rye bread) and topped with artfully layered ingredients such as fish, meats, cheese, and greens.

A custom-made 21 foot long wooden table at the market will be set with more than 10 varieties of smørrebrød created by visiting Danish chef Trina Hahnemann and local chefs Alejandro Alcocer of greenbrownorange; Patrick Connolly of Bobo; Caroline Fidanza of Saltie; Christophe Hille of Northern Spy Food Co.; Simo and Tuomas Kuusisto of Nordic Breads;  and the team from Marlow & Daughters. All sandwiches will be made with rugbrød baked by Nordic Breads using regional grain grown and milled by Cayuga Pure Organics of Trumansburg, NY, and topped with regional ingredients, including beef from Grazin' Angus Acres of Ghent, NY and ingredients to be selected from other market vendors.
