Chilifest

Chelsea Market is a great destination for foodies, whether you're looking for fluffy cupcakes or freshly-made pasta. On January 30th, however, chili takes center stage from 4 to 8 p.m.

The market is joining Dickson's Farmstead Meats and The Cleaver Company to throw the first annual New York Chilifest. For $30 (it's $35 at the door), you can can sample all the chili you want, there will be over 20 variations, from restaurants like Dressler and Fette Sau in Brooklyn to Txikito and Northern Spy Food Company in Manhattan. If you want beer pairings from Brooklyn Brewery, it's $40 (or $45 at the door).

There will be live music from local bands throughout the festival and the chefs will compete for the Golden Chili Mug 2011 title and $2,000 cash prize. Go to chilifest2011.com for more information and tickets. Part of the proceeds will benefit Food Systems NYC.
