Serious Eats Sandwiches on Governor's Island

Sandwiches from restaurants and takeout places will be served on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. on Governors Island for the Serious Eats All-Star Sandwich Festival, which benefits the Edible Schoolyard. Unlimited sandwiches, frozen desserts, local beers, wines and cider will set you back $66.99 ($31.74 for children 8 to 12 years old; $154.74 for a family of two adults and up to three children). A Hudson Valley Brunch

A brunch featuring Hudson Valley farms, chefs and local wines and spirits will aid the North East Community Center farm and food education programs on Sunday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at No. 9 restaurant, 53 Main Street, Millerton, N.Y.: $40 at (518) 592-1299, neccmillerton.org and the Millerton Farmers Market, open Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Battle of the Pies

Christina Tosi of Momofuku Milk Bar, among others, will be judging a pie contest will take place on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Brooklyn Kitchen, 100 Frost Street (Meeker Street), Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

To be judged, you must pick up a two-pound sack of Daisy Flour at Brooklyn Kitchen, and use the flour to make your pie, which must be delivered for the contest by 4 p.m. A $5 fee is for entrants and for those who want to taste pie, drink beer and vote.
