Brunch and Tunes with your Toddlers

If you have a toddler, no doubt you are up earlier than you'd ever imagined you would be on a Sunday, and if you're lucky enough to have a kid who can sit still long enough for eggs and coffee, your brunch options are probably limited to Bubby's or the local diner. Not terrible options, but if you are looking for something different, check out the Setai Fifth Avenue's newly launched toddler brunch-- "Tunes with Tina"-- a new interactive musical children's brunch live at the Bar on Fifth (400 5^th Avenue at 36th Street).  This weekend brunch kicks off on Sunday August 28th at 10am, with shows every Sunday at 10am and 12pm thereafter. 

Tina is no stranger to the children's brunch scene as she spent six years playing at The Carlyle Hotel's "Tea with Madeline."  She is a professionally trained singer and jazz musician and she can belt out Disney Classics and Broadway tunes and quickly switch gears to Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and various other teen idols I have never listened to.

You and your little ones are invited to sing along while enjoying three courses from the "little prix fixe" menu and two courses from the "big prix fixe" menu, coffee, tea, or juice, plus live entertainment for $40 a person ($20 for kids three and under).  While midtown on a Sunday may not be an every weekend option, "Tunes with Tina" can be great for a random day trip into the city or something like a birthday celebration with a group of kids.  (And no worries mom and dad, there are of course plenty of bloody marys, mimosas, and big kid options to choose from!) Food Trucks and Afro-Punk!

This year's Afro-Punk Festival of bands and more, on Saturday and Sunday starting at 11 a.m. and going well into the evening, will include nearly 20 food trucks at Commodore Barry Park, between Flushing Avenue and Navy Street, Dumbo, Brooklyn. Free admission. Details: afropunk.com.
