Madava Farms Debuts Sweet Retreat

Madava Farms, the home of Crown Maple, an organic maple farm in New York’s Hudson Valley, invites Hudson Valley locals, city folks, and out-of-towners to join them as they open the doors of their long awaited Visitors Center with a special weekend of events.

An easy day trip from Manhattan, Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Jersey, visitors will now be able to wander over 800 acres of sustainably raised, majestic sugar and red maple trees to learn how organic, pure maple syrup is crafted, as well as experience a unique maple tasting in the Center’s new Tasting Room crafted from tap-holed maples.

A new onsite eatery, aptly named The Farm Stand, is headed by Chef Jacob Griffin and features a constantly changing, farm-to-table menu made with ingredients picked from the bountiful gardens at Madava and surrounding local farms, as well as a full bar with featured wines and craft beers.

To kick off the opening of the Visitors Center, Madava Farms will host two events on Saturday, October 13 and Sunday, October 14.

Saturday will feature Crown Maple’s Artisan Food Partners Tasting Event, open free of charge to the public, highlighting the magnificent pairing of Crown Maple Syrup with culinary partners such as Mast Brothers Chocolate and Blue Marble Ice Cream.

On Sunday, as an unofficial kick off to fall’s Hudson Valley Restaurant Week, Madava Farms will host the Crown Maple “Chef’s Challenge Showcase” featuring the prominent regional chefs who won spring’s Hudson Valley Restaurant Week’s “Chef Challenge.” Chefs Josh Kroner of Terrapin Restaurant, Justin Montgomery of Harper’s Restaurant, James Kelly of Restaurant X and Bully Boy Bar and Pasquale Dedi of Zuppa Restaurant will be on hand offering tasting portions of their winning dishes using Crown Maple. Tickets are available for $25.

Additional event details, schedule, directions to the farm and hours can be found at www.crownmaple.com. Madava Farms is located at 47 McCourt Road in Dover Plains, NY, 845.877.0640.
