“Passover Cooking Mexican Style, Whole Hog Night at Get Fresh Table, and Samuelsson Cooking Demo”

Saturday: Dos Caminos Mexican Passover Cooking Class at Dos Caminos Park, 373 Park Avenue South at 27th Street

If you’re tired of gefilte fish and roast chicken, take your Passover Seder in a new direction this year with a dose of Mexican flavor. Dos Caminos Executive Chefs Ivy Stark and Scott Linquist will be hosting a cooking class and lunch with recipes to add some excitement to your Passover table like Spicy Chipotle Chicken Liver Sopes and Ancho-Braised Brisket. The demonstration-style class will be held from 11:30am-2:30pm, costs $65 per person plus tax and gratuity, and includes lunch, cocktails, recipes, and a copy of the Dos Caminos Mod Mex cookbook. For more information or to reserve your spot, contact events@brguestinc.com or 212-331-0328.

Sunday: Whole Hog Night at Get Fresh Table and Market, 370 Fifth Avenue in Park Slope, 718-360-8469.

Park Slope’s Get Fresh Table and Market has a fantastic way to close your weekend—Sunday’s Whole Hog Night. Every week, chefs Juventino Avila and Mark Simmons (the Kiwi from Top Chef) turn out two different presentations of swine, sometimes it takes on a New Zealand flavor and other times a more Latin flare with dishes like Lechon with Mole Poblano (braised pork shoulder in a 15-ingredient mole) and Tortillas de Mama and Platano dulce (caramelized plantains with house made mozzarella). A sample four-course menu includes channa dal samosas with red onion raita, house-cured meats with pickles and cheeses, suckling pig with celery root dauphinios, mustard greens and garam spiced apple jam, and for dessert, Wattleseed pavlova (it’s a Kiwi thing) with hibiscus and berry compote.

The Sunday Whole Hog menu is $35 per person, except for the Easter Sunday Lamb menu, which is $40. Reservations strongly recommended. BYOB.

Sunday: Marcus Samuelsson at Broadway Panhandler, 65 East 8th Street, 212-966-0121

Aquavit’s chef Marcus Samuelsson will be at Broadway Panhandler on Sunday demonstrating some of his classic Aquavit recipes using his line of Regal Ware cookware. While your there, you can also take advantage of the Cutlery sale with savings of up to 65% on their inventory of knives. For example, a Global 2pc Set (6" Chef & 3.5" Parer) is $99.98 (Sugg. Retail $138), the Wusthof Classic Forged 6" Bread Knife with a free Cutting Board is $39.98 (Sugg. Retail $120), the Shun Classic 5.5" Santoku is $59.98 (Sugg.
