“The Latest from Alex and Eder: Txikito”

Many of you were probably fans of chefs Alex Raij and Eder Montero's food at Tial Pol and El Quinto Pino. After a surprise breakup with owners, Alex and Eder are now set to open their own place, Txikito (say Chee Kee Toe), which means little in Euskera, the Basque language. As the name implies, their snug restaurant seats only 28 people and celebrates Basque cuisine and is located just blocks from their former Tia Pol stomping grounds on 9th Avenue between 24th and 25th Streets.

From their fact sheet:

"At Txikito, expect classic and contemporary dishes that reflect the Basque style and their obsession with first-rate ingredients. Bacalao al Pil Pil and a short list of “Pintxos” (carefully composed Basque canapés) anchor a menu designed for sharing.  Seasonal specials change daily. The wine list will feature hard cider and wines from all the Basque wine producing regions. Txikitos, traditional small pours of wine, will be available to mix and match with the food, as will Zuritos, mini beers. Zurracapote, a wine based cocktail, is number one on a short list of well-made cocktails."
