“Culinary Volunteers Needed in New Orleans!”

If you're a cook with 6 months professional cooking experience and you're looking for a way to give back, the city of New Orleans is in need of your talent.

CulinaryCorps is now accepting applications for its upcoming service trip for culinary professionals and students to New Orleans, LA from April 16-22, 2009. The chosen team of 10 cooks will complete 5 days of culinary service while learning about the cuisine of the community through insider tours, tastings and events.

Service projects in April include cooking for the residents of the Lower 9th Ward, launching an after-school cooking and gardening program for the Ocean Springs school district and creating a 400-person meal for the Gala Opening of Liberty's Kitchen, a program that trains at-risk youth in the culinary arts. Participants must have 6 months of professional cooking experience and/or a culinary degree and personal health insurance.

The trip will cost you $275, and you will also have to provide your own travel arrangements.
