“Citi Field Eats Revealed”

While our tax dollars are hard at work building Citi (Taxpayer) Field, the folks at Union Square Hospitality Group have been hard at work making sure the ballpark eats are going to be the best we’ve ever had while in a seat for nine (plus) innings. Citi Field opens April 13th. Below, excerpts from the press release:

Outposts of Blue Smoke and Shake Shack, as well as two new concepts – El Verano Taquería and Box Frites, a Belgian frites stand will opening in Citi Field. Of note, Tabla’s Chef Floyd Cardoz is the consulting chef for El Verano Taquería. In addition, USHG is providing all food and beverage services at Citi Field's Delta Sky360 Club, the premium seating area for 1,600 guests on the Field Level directly behind home plate. Outfield concourse, accessible to all ticket holders, will feature:

  • Blue Smoke: the pioneer of urban ’cue, Blue Smoke offers mouthwatering real pit barbecue
  • Shake Shack: the enormously popular hamburger and hot dog stand that made a splash with its locations in Madison Square Park and the Upper West Side griddles up game day favorites
  • El Verano Taquería: this new concept features authentic tacos created by Chef Floyd Cardoz of Tabla
  • Box Frites: another new concept for USHG, this frites stand serves freshly-cut, Belgian-style fries with a variety of dipping sauces
The Delta Sky360 Club will feature several different dining options, including:
  • Wheelhouse Market: this casual cafe serves classic, artisanal comfort foods
  • Wheelhouse Beer & Wine Bar: located inside the Delta Sky360 Club, this venue offers specialty brews and an extensive selection of wines from around the world, available by the glass or bottle
  • Dining Room: reservations required, with limited seating for walk-in guests, presents a menu ideally suited to game day dining
  • Bar & Lounge: offering guests a view of the large outdoor patio and ball field, the bar and lounge serves specialty cocktails and small bites
  • Delta Sky360 In-Seat Service: waiter service featuring “Best of Ballpark” food from the outfield concourse

“Shake Shack at the Ballpark May Mean Long Waits an”

Long waits and cold food are the usual routine at the Madison Park location. If I have to miss 2 innings to grab a dag at the Flushing Bowl I will not be happy!
