“Photos and Menus from Inakaya!”

As I reported earlier this week, one of Tokyo's most respected chefs, Kozo Matsuo, is coming to New York to open Inakaya tomorrow. This robatayaki, or Japanese barbecue restaurant, is located in the NY Times building and promises to deliver a theatrical cooking and dining experience that makes Benny Hanna look like a snore fest.

Aside from the energetic chorus of welcoming chants from all corners of the 3000 square foot dining room, the centerpiece of the restaurant is the produce display, an 8-foot ice shelf brimming with seafood, shellfish, meat, poultry and vegetables that are shuttled to the yakikata (grill guys) for your dinner.

To give you an idea of price point: Grilled Vegetables run $7-$9, Seafood ranges from $10-$65 for Kinki, flown in straight from Tokyo, Meat from $11-$45 for Waygu, and sushi and maki from $3-$16.

Below you'll find a few snapshots to get your appetite stimulated. Inakaya opens tomorrow, February 26th, at 231 West 40th Street, 212-354-2195.
