“BLT Blackboard Prix Fixe”

Another cut-rate menu for the recession, this one from BLT Restaurant Group which has begun a new seasonal Prix Fixe Blackboard Menu at BLT Steak, BLT Prime and BLT Fish in New York City. The three-course menu (appetizer, entree, side, and dessert) is $60 per person. Below is a taste of what BLT blackboards around city have offered recently:

Appetizers:
Hamachi Ceviche / Avocado / Pickled Jalapeno / Charred Blood Orange
Crispy Duck Confit Risotto / Le Tur Cheese / Spinach / Black Truffle
Marinated Baby Yellowtail / Japanese Eggplant/ Uni / Ginger Emulsion

Main Courses:
Grilled Arctic Char / Artichoke Nage / Late Radicchio Salad / Meyer Lemon
Indian Curry Braised Short Ribs / Mango Chutney
Chatham Cod / Piperade / Crispy Prosciutto

Sides:
Pommes Dauphine Croquettes / Potato Puree / Choux Pastry

“BLT: Still Acting Like its 2006!”

Recently dined with a large group at BLT steak on 57th. Immediately shown to the worst table in the room, in front of the kitchen. Told the imbyhost that this was a non starter and had to call the manager to get the right table. Keep in mind there were plenty of tables open. Food was the usual expense account wildly overpriced fare yet not as good as I remembered it. This attitude at these price points and BLT will soon be a memory.
