“Hometown Authenticity and Homegrown Fare at Northern Spy in the East Village”

A new restaurant called Northern Spy in the East Village has been getting some nice word of mouth (best pig trotters according to the Times). The convivial East Village spot was opened in November by three friends, Christophe Hille (A-16), Nathan Foot (One Market, Jardinierre), and Chris Ronis, who wanted to open a modest authentic spot serving and selling food sourced from the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.

Friends of the Strong Buzz and biodynamic winemakers David Page and Barbara Shinn gave it two thumbs up in their weekly newsletter, writing:

Our favorite places have always been the tiny out of the way "mom and pop" places where we have a personel relationship with everyone who works there. We stopped for lunch at a new restaurant in the East Village called Northern Spy that has been pouring our wine by the glass. We sat down to a wonderful lunch that included a delicious pulled pork cake with crushed potatoes and an awesome chicken thigh sandwich.

Yum. Have you been? Share your two cents below!

Northern Spy is located at 511 East 12th Street, (212) 228-5100
