“The Lion, The Waverly, and The New Chef”
By now you've probably read that Stephen Lyle’s Village restaurant will become The Lion, a new restaurant from The Waverly Inn's chef John DeLucie and Mark Amadei (Delicatessen).
According to New York Magazine, the restaurant will be two stories, and serve classic American fare from steaks and chops to burgers. The space will take on more of an old-world feel, but with updated art, and the team is currently meeting with collectors and dealers in a search for works by Andy Warhol and David La Chapelle.
Now, rumors have also been circulating about whether DeLucie is out of The Waverly Inn, or if he has just been asked to take a leave of absence while opening The Lion. I don't know the answer to that question, but I do know that they have hired a new chef. More on the new guy when I can tell you more, for now, it's under wraps. Stay Tuned.
