“Kin Shop”

Night Out | Asian | West Village | Moderate | Great |
To drink, the restaurant offers a crop of Thai-influenced specialty cocktails like the Calamity, a take on the margarita that’s mixed from Sauza blanco, yellow Chartreuse, calamansi nectar, with a fresh lemon and sugar salted rim. There is a 75-label, spice-friendly international wine list with many bottles priced under $50, and a diverse globe-spanning selection of beers, many from small, craft producers. We had a bottle of Rose from Germany that was perfect.
Dessert includes sorbets or ice creams or a root beer float. With the embers of a lovely curry blaze still in my mouth, the calamansi sorbet was ideal: a sort of a cross between a Clementine and a lime, this is one sweet-tart sorbet and it’s truly made to tame heat. A firefighter, if you will.
Kin Shop is located at 469 Sixth Avenue, between 11th and 12th Streets, 212-675-4295.
