“Alphabet Kitchen”
Occasion: | Cuisine: | Area: | Cost: | Rating: |
Night Out | Latin/Mexican | East Village | Cheap Eats | Good |
Located on a now bustling block of Avenue A, the Alphabet Kitchen is a warm, cozy respite from the grind of life in the city. This intimate restaurant is all aglow with candles and gets its rustic, warmth from wooden tables, a long dark-wood bar, an open kitchen, and a serene garden with a waterfall trickling down the stone wall. The menu has a Spanish flare to it and features inspired tapas and Iberian dishes like paella, chorizo, grilled shrimp, and a succulent and bold braised lamb shank with grilled polenta. To wash it all down, Alphabet Kitchen also serves one mean sangria. Fruity, yet balanced, this is one beverage that should be ordered by the pitcher.
Alphabet Kitchen, 171 Avenue b/w 10th and 11th Streets, 212-982-3838.
