“The Stone Rose Lounge”

  Occasion: Cuisine: Area: Cost: Rating:
Night Out New American Midtown Moderate Good

Located in the sprawling new highly anticipated Time Warner Center in Columbus Circle, just down the hall from Per Se, The Stone Rose Lounge is sexy and expansive space that is straight out of a scene from Sex & The City, filled with hotties lounging on plush, low love seats and rosewood-paneled nooks filled with suited men and barely dressed women, either single and on the prowl, or paired off in assorted stages of couplehood slurping back drinks and taking in the view of the Park below. The room is simply fabulous and has a sort of private club feel to it—definitely one of those clubs that you’d die to be a member of, even if you had to lie about being a log cabin Republican to get in (and yes, that was a nod to Larry David). But back to the lounge, while place is really all about the cocktails, there is a limited selection of overpriced haute snacks from Jean Georges, like tuna tartare on crispy wonton crackers, and caviar-filled beggar’s purses. Nothing on the menu really grabbed me, so my friend Stacey and I stuck to the tasty smoked almonds on the cocktail tables that actually made a very nice complement to both her Ciroc Frost Martini and my Moet champagne. Since it was pouring outside, and we really had no where else to go, we lingered for quite a while, sipping our drinks (there were many), feasting on the nuts (see previous parenthetical), and chatting about life, love, work, sex, you know, the usual stuff girlfriends dish over. This lasted hours, until we tried to get up and realized that we were indeed quite drunk and needed to go home. But before we left, we sat for a few more minutes. (We didn’t want to topple over). We drank some water and stared out at the rain, falling out of the sky in she ... [more, click below]
